Unparty is a low-volume, alcohol-free, inclusive gathering that provides a space for devs to chill, network, and recharge without the presence of potentially stressful stimuli sometimes seen at GDC events.
Unparty started as an informal gathering back at GDC 2016 that formed as a response to the lack of quiet social spaces at GDC, and since then, it has grown into a a confluence of groovy game makers enjoying each others’ company in a cozy environment. The event has been a labor of love and is always volunteer organized and run. It has been traditionally a space where developers from underrepresented backgrounds have been able to feel more welcome than at other GDC events, and by having it funded by donations and a few sponsors, we can keep it an inviting event. This year, Friendship Garden is helping raise money for the event so that we can get food and massages for guests of the event.
